Love, Our Dominatrix
Funny word, ’tis Love. But when she hits you with her whip and you kneel down contemplating its sting, it ain’t funny at all.
I’ve been reading through blogs of my friends and online buddies when I came across Wendy’s blog entry in multiply. She wrote:
"it is strange that 2 white girls, I think they are my age or older. Sat right infront of me , and they were talking : "One was explaining how she cried last night…because the guy she was dating for a while , DIDNT WANT A RELATIONSHIP. But she felt so sad because they were getting really close, and he was such a nice guy…" I was thinking MY GOD!!!!!!!!! This white girl has the same problem with guys as I have… I DONT HAVE A PERSONALITY PROBLEM, THE GUYS ARE THE ONES WHO HAVE A COMMITMENT PROBLEM…THEY ARE COWARDS."
Like me, these girls think that guys are such commitmentphobes and therein lies the problems that plague every relationship.
But a guy I know would say something quite different. I remember him telling me through text that he’s been reading through the blog of this girl he recently courted and dumped him. He read that the girl is quite disappointed because his ideas about her aren’t really the real Her! For the guy who’s been courting her for 5 months, it was so unfair because he did everything he can just to win her affections. And it all end up with her saying that they are better off as friends.
Has she just broke up with a bf, I asked this guy. Nope, the guy said. So I guess the girl just didn’t want to be in a relationship just yet. Or maybe she just doesn’t like him that way. Or maybe she is commitmentphobic. Who knows?
Love has her own sense of irony. She eludes those who seek her and haunt those who are so terrified of her.
There really is no escaping her, as we are all her slaves and under her power. Though many people out there would claim that Love has no power over them, I beg to disagree. Why fear something that isn’t more powerful than you? They just continually deny themselves they can succumb to something so abstract, and yet so real, that is Love. They imagine control is in their hands but truly it is not because if it is then Love wouldn’t be so domineering at all and that they could change Her the way they want Her to be. No, that can’t be.
All we have to realize now is that we have no power over Her at all. Better to be like sheep to Her, our Dominatrix. Let us see where Her whims shall lead us.
